When a 5MinFun.com student registrant acquires a paid or free subscription or membership, we may collect additional personally identifiable information ("PII") from the registrant's parent or payer (possibly a grandparent, relative or other friend of the student) and from the student. The types of PII that may be collected at that time include the parent's or payer's full name, email address, phone number, Facebook id and credit card billing information including mailing address. The 5MinFun.com registration process does not condition a student's participation in our online activity, on the student providing more personal information than is reasonably necessary for the activities associated with our program experience.
The 5MinFun.com website requests student users to provide a parent's valid email address in order to register on the website. We use this information to send the parent a message to inform the parent of the student's participation in their 5MinFun.com account, to notify the parent about our privacy practices and other policies, to send the parent communications about the student's 5MinFun.com account, to ask to parent to sign up for a full annual subscription to our service and for the other purposes. This parent's email address is correlated with the account user name or student's name. We also utilize the parent's email to gain approval for children under age 13 to engage in the game in accordance with federal privacy regulations.
We may also request a user name and email address when a user submits a form through the "Contact Us" portion of the Company's website so that we may respond to the inquiry. We collect the e-mail address for the sole purpose of responding directly on a one-time basis to a specific inquiry.
For some of our activities, students have the ability to share personally identifiable information. For example, when playing learning games, individuals may chat, share information or see live video streaming from other students, teachers or players. As an additional example, students will engage in our 5MinFun.com activities while they are in existing social media spaces, like Facebook. Such spaces have their own safety and security policies. Students should not excessively share their personal information and should maintain good internet security and safety.
When a student discloses personally identifiable information, you should be aware that such information could be read, collected or used by other users and other people or organizations within these existing social networks (like Facebook). We advise parents or payers to monitor and supervise their students in this regard. Game scores, milestone achievements and certain performance metrics achieved by players when using the game, may also be shared with the Company's community at our sole discretion.
If personal information is not provided to us, then the Company may not agree to provide a membership or subscription, and we may not be able to provide access to certain content and functionality to the Company's services, or we may not be able to provide other information, products or services which may be requested by a user.
- How We Use, Disclose, and Store the Information We Collect
- In addition to the purposes described above, we may actively collect and use email addresses, user names and other information, to track usage and to ensure users are following the site's Terms of Use. - The security of your personal information is important to us. - International Transfer
- Your information may be transferred to, and maintained on, computers located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the privacy laws may not be as protective as those in your jurisdiction. If you are located outside the United States and choose to provide information to us, the Company transfers Personal Information to the United States and processes it there and your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.
- Collaboratorium Service
- The Company is focused on improving education services and collaboration between people. One of the features of the Company is the Collaboratorium page. This page is intended to all students to openly share information on their computers, chat about class work and exchange streaming video for their exchanges. In addition, a Teacher could use the Collaboratorium to provide additional teaching exchanges on the computer through the Company, as if they were standing in front of their class rooms. Such streaming chat, video and computer exchange may be available from other web services. Students and teachers would have to invite individuals into their Collaboratorium sessions. However like all internet services, students and teachers should maintain an eye toward security and not invite people they do not know to their Collaboratorium sessions. In addition, students and teachers need to maintain appropriate decorum with using the Collaboratorium and other Company services. The Company reserves the sole right to deny people who abuse the use of these chat, video and computer screening services or other Company services, and such action could lead to the termination of access to the Company's services. The Company cannot police all uses of the Collaboratorium and other Company services, so participating students, parents and teachers must take individual responsibility for their actions and understand the potential inappropriate actions of others are not endorsed by the Company.
- Our Policy Toward Children
- The Company's services are not directed to children under age 9 or fourth graders. For children under age 13, in accordance with federal privacy regulations, we do not allow them to play the game without first asking their parent(s) for approval to engage with the Company's program. These under age 13 students are denied access when trying to enter the game and asked to provide us their parent's email so we can contact them for approval. In general for all students, we request students provide information to enable the Company to contact their parents by email and when provided, we do notify the parents of their child's interest in our site.
